Oil marketers call off strike, to begin lifting fuel in 6 hours

The current fuel scarcity in Nigeria is finally nearing an end as oil marketers in the country have agreed to call off their strike.

The decision was reached on Monday, May 25, 2015, after a meeting between the marketers and the Federal Government.

The meeting was called by the Senate Committee on Petroleum (Upstream and downstream) in a bid to resolve the crisis.

According to the Chairman of the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN), Obafemi Olawore, Conoil, Forte Oil, MRS, Total and Mobil have agreed to begin lifting and distributing product to end the scarcity.

This comes after the Managing Director of Capital Oil and Gas, Ifeanyi Ubah ordered his trucks to deliver 13 million litres of fuel around the country to end the hardship being faced by Nigerians.

Ubah had also, on Sunday, May 24, called on his fellow marketers to follow suit in the spirit of patriotism.
