Rev King to die by hanging - Supreme Court

Reverend King who was convicted of killing a church member will die by hanging, so says Nigerian apex court, the Supreme Court. 

The court however vacated the five 20 years jail handed him by a federal high court in Lagos. Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, the lead judge ruled that the death sentence by the Lagos court be upheld. Justcie Ngwuta said the facts against Rev. King is like such that is seen in a horror movie. Ngwuta further stated that the appeal lacked merit thus case discharged.

Senate President says Social Media bill dead is on arrival

Nigeria's Senate President Bukola Saraki said the frivolous petition bill seeking to gag social media users is dead on arrival.

The Senate President stated this during his speech at the Social Media Week in Lagos. He said the National Assembly believes the social media has a role to play in the development of Nigeria.

He said section four of the frivolous petition bill won't even be considered if at all the Senate will consider the bill.

(Adamawa Explosion): 4 confirmed dead in police station blast

 Four people have been confirmed dead in Yola, Adamawa State after an explosion hit the Jimeta Divisional Police Headquarters on Thursday, February 25, 2016.

The victims, all senior police officers, lost their lives in the blast which was caused by a bomb which had been retrieved from Boko Haram terrorists and kept in a store at the station.

The deaths have been confirmed by the State Commissioner of Police, Gazali Mohammed.
